Commonwealth Consultants believes in empowering employees to be impactful leaders in our community

On April 14, the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce announced the finalists for the 2015 Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards.  We were humbled and honored to be chosen as a finalist for the Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year for the small business category.

While being publicly-recognized for the work we do is gratifying, it is the work Commonwealth Consultants employees and leaders do off the clock that matters the most.

Commonwealth Consultants was founded with a core philosophy of giving back to our community. With my colleague Bruce McLeod, we made a very conscious decision that the firm would make a meaningful difference in building and strengthening our community – both through our corporate mission and through our volunteer work.

This has been accomplished through the formation of Commonwealth Consultants Foundation.

Our premiere event is our annual “Hike for the Kids.”  Since 2004, we have served over 300 children. This event takes children from Carpenter’s Shelter, Fairfax County’s Be-friend-a-Child and Reston Interfaith to explore the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge Mountains.  Last October our 60 volunteers hosted over 50 children.

Since 2003, The James and Joan Lamb Scholarship, named in honor of my parents, have provided economically-disadvantaged youths financial assistance to attend George Mason University.  In 12 years, the scholarship program has donated over $50,000 to seven students so they could earn their undergraduate degree.

Our philosophy and corporate mission also align through a shared value between our firm and the corporations in which we are privileged to have as clients.  We only work for companies that further our core values of building and strengthening our community.

Again, we are honored to have been selected by the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce alongside so many well-respected companies that work to empower the community.
